In an increasingly litigious age, documenting the recruitment process is vital.

At the heart of such record keeping are job and person specifications, documents that clearly describe what activities the job holder will have to perform and what experience they will need for the position.

Upon discussing the position thoroughly with the line manager, it became obvious that the vacancy for an AS400 Analyst Programmer was in fact an AS400 Application Support Consultant. Not only would the advertisement have been badly worded, but even the job title was wrong.
